Make things. Do stuff.

Portfolio and journal for Stephen Schieberl

Birdman was the original wingsuit company. I'm not sure what they're up to now.

BIRDMAN

Birdman was the first company to offer a commercially available wingsuit in 1999. Shortly after I started skydiving, I picked one up and it became the focus of my parachuting career. To the point that I briefly joined their team in Deland, Florida to build their web site, get trained as an instructor, and travel around peddling "nylon crack". The suits sold themselves. After ground-training qualified, experienced skydivers, I would take them on an in-air evaluation jump. I think maybe two people ever did not buy a wingsuit immediately after flying one.

I co-wrote Parachutist magazine's first feature article on wingsuits. I also appeared candidly in the magazine for a time, as one of the few wingsuit owners out there.
