In 2006, I left my job at Overland Agency. I had saved up to take some time off to pursue a music career. I went to the Winter Music Conference in Miami. It was a blast, and I was able to make some connections and learn a lot about the industry. When I returned, I put all my effort towards finding an outlet for my music.
Glasgow-based Soma Records was at the top of my list, and felt like a good fit. I sent them a demo, and things took off from there. A piece I had written and produced, and recorded with SciFiSol, "I'll Lick Your Spine" got a remix from one of my favorite acts, Repeat Repeat, and became a mega-hit in the European club scene.
That Autumn, just before I traveled to the UK for a brief tour, I brought my sabbatical to a close when I joined the now closed Fashionbuddha Studio. The weekend before my first day, I met Alycia, who would one day be my wife and the mother of my children.
When I returned from my tour, we moved in together, went camping every chance we had, and I took up duck hunting.
