The Flash Days

For a few years, Flash was my creative tool of choice. I was pushing the boundaries of the platform. I loved linking it up with homemade touch interfaces and cameras, audio software, and various types of hardware. And when we could start writing shaders for it, it was a game changer.

Flash's heyday in Portland was special. We had a strong community which assembled regularly, kept each other employed, and held some amazing hackathons.

Unfortunately, it was too little too late when Javascript and CSS (ie, HTML 5) started catching up. Flash had jumped far ahead in its tech, but not until its adoption rate plummeted. And we all moved on.
