I got pretty out of shape living in NYC. When we moved back to Oregon, I wanted become a stronger hiker to get more laps in when I went speedflying. On a hike with a friend one day, someone ran by us. It was then that I saw it... the potential... I could run on these trails. I could see so much more in less time. I could get in shape and love doing it. Nine months later, I ran my first 50k race. These days 100- and 200-mile events are more my forté.
Trail running in the mountains turned into climbing mountains. Which lead to combining alpinism and off-trail exploration with running. I have done relatively few races, but countless ambitious routes of my own design. The sport has taken me to places and given me experiences I never could have dreamed of.
